Aspen Medical and UOWD partner to deliver joint training programs and public health initiatives, with a focus on practical experience for students and professionals.
Dubai, UAE, 04 November 2024 – Aspen Medical, a global leader in healthcare solutions, and the University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) have announced a partnership to advance healthcare education and workforce development in the region. Through a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by Aspen Medical’s Executive Chairman Glenn Keys and UOWD President Professor Mohamed Salem, the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to meet the growing healthcare needs through innovative, practical programs benefiting students, professionals, and the broader community.
Under this partnership, Aspen Medical and UOWD will develop specialized healthcare training programs in critical care, emergency response, and public health. They will also join efforts on public health campaigns, aimed at raising health awareness and addressing regional healthcare challenges.
A central feature of the collaboration will be the establishment of a clinical skills and simulation lab at UOWD, designed to provide hands-on training and build essential clinical competencies. This lab will enhance students’ learning experiences by integrating practical simulations to foster critical thinking and technical skills.
“We’re thrilled to partner with UOWD to create valuable pathways for students and professionals to excel in healthcare,” said Keys. “This initiative not only enhances learning but also supports workforce development and regional preparedness for emergencies.”
Professor Salem added, “Aspen Medical’s expertise in healthcare training will bring innovative opportunities to our students. This collaboration allows us to address regional healthcare needs through education, research, and community outreach.”
Claire Westbrook-Keir, General Manager of Aspen Medical in the UAE, highlighted the importance of this initiative: “Partnering with UOWD aligns with our mission to raise healthcare education standards and workforce readiness. By combining Aspen Medical’s global expertise with UOWD’s academic foundation, we anticipate a meaningful impact on healthcare training and public health awareness in the region.”
As part of the MoU, Aspen Medical will offer guest lectures for UOWD’s Health Sciences faculty, covering key topics such as field hospital operations, emergency responses in high-risk areas, and advances in deployable healthcare technologies. Aspen Medical will also provide advisory support to help UOWD align healthcare training with global best practices. Additionally, Health Sciences students and alumni will gain access to internship opportunities within Aspen Medical’s remote healthcare facilities and public health projects.
This collaboration underscores Aspen Medical and UOWD’s shared vision of building a sustainable, well-prepared healthcare workforce equipped to tackle the evolving challenges of the healthcare sector.
