Dubai, UAE, 22 October 2024 – Heriot-Watt University Dubai, with Dubai Humanitarian, announced winners of the Packaging Design Student Competition. The event took place during the Packaging for Sustainability Symposium.
The winning team will present their packaging solutions at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, in November 2024. The symposium is part of the Packaging for Sustainability Programme, promoting sustainable practices across industries.
Dr. Matthew Sukumaran said, “Our programme addresses environmental challenges through research and collaboration, empowering students to find sustainable solutions.” Launched in April 2024, the initiative continues to push for innovative packaging solutions.
Giuseppe Saba stated, “This collaboration encourages sustainable practices essential for a responsible future, connecting innovation and environmental responsibility.”
The programme partners with sponsors and knowledge partners to advance sustainable packaging across logistics, food, and humanitarian sectors.
The programme explores packaging life cycles, promotes biodegradable materials, and supports circular economic solutions for reducing waste.
